Fallout 3 is the best-selling video game from Bethesda Game Studios, and is the third game in the Fallout series. The game is essentially a role-playing game, with elements of action, adventure and shooting. Many of the game’s locations have now become iconic, such as the vault where you are born (Vault 101), and the ruins of Washington D.C., now known as Capital Wasteland.
The game is so realistic, that it starts with you being born, right through to your 19th birthday, when you can leave the vault and go and explore the world. This realism also allows you to ‘upgrade’ yourself with perks. There’s a lot of different Fallout perks, each doing a different thing. To unlock a Fallout perk, you must fulfil certain requirements that allow you to choose a perk to unlock. The choices that you make will affect the game, your character’s abilities, and how you go about the world. For example, you might choose to access the Lockpicking perk, which naturally allows you to pick locks better. This means you can open more safes, and can gain money through looting. This does, however mean that you will be weaker at hunting and fighting, so you might choose to adapt a more stealthy approach to your game.
Alternatively, with the Gun Nut perk, you become better with using small weapons, and at repairing them. This will make you handier in a firefight, and means that your weapons will last longer, since you can take better care of them. As you can see, different perks allow your character to develop in different directions. Some people will take their characters to an extreme, possibly making them into a master-thief, a strong and powerful warrior, a robotics expert, or a demolitions expert, whilst other players may prefer a more rounded character, who has a little bit of everything.
There are so many different Fallout perks, and different combinations of perks, that the game will never be the same each time you play it.
